Agile Approach
Working in sprints
From the beginning of the project, an agile workflow was adopted by the team.
Weekly sprints were defined as from Thursday to Wednesday, by planning reoccurring meetings on Thursday, Tuesday, and Wednesday during the workshop.
Thursday would be dedicated to a sprint planning session, defining the goal of the sprint and listing the back-log items for each team member. On Tuesday, the team would meet
for a Sprint review, showcasing the constructed work and expressing their questions
or concerns preparing for the review on Wednesday.
After the review, a usual unformal retrospective would take place leaving room for constructive feedback on the past sprint concerning personal and practical matters that should be credited or improved during the next sprint.

Design Thinking Process
Our Strategy
The project development is based on a comprehensive framework combining the methodologies of Design Thinking, Lean, and Agile in three phases.
The Problem Identification phase is influenced by Design Thinking, emphasizing understanding user needs, defining clear problem statements, and fostering ideation.
The Solution Identification phase is based on Lean start-up principles guiding efficient learning, building
of minimum viable products, and measurement
of viability.
The Solution Delivery phase is building on the agile methodology improving the product through careful planning and reviews of iterations.
Both the solution identification and delivery phases are worked in cyclical phases, moving from the abstract learning and development to the concrete testing and reviewing.

Problem Definition
Finding Design Opportunities
As for the initial research, it was decided to look further into the protocol of evacuation after a disaster has happened. Focusing on victims in Italy, 5 post-disaster stages were identified, based on the timeline of the official emergency protocol. Several interviews with victims and volunteers of different natural disasters led to further identification of the human needs during the evacuation timeline. While some of the identified needs were already controlled through the emergency protocol, others acted as stepping stones for design opportunities setting the direction of the project.
Empathy Map
Further in-depth interviews were conducted with victims of the flooding in Emilia Romagna (2023) to get a deep understanding of the emotional and practical experience victims go through after a natural disaster. The interviews were handled with discretion and victims could opt out of any question asked, as it the topic would be a sensitive matter for the victims to talk about.
After the interviews, an empathy map was created as a tool to uncover potential needs and drivers guiding the priorities and scope of the idea.
Project vision and value proposition
From the in dept field and desk research a Value Proposition Canvas was created as a way to define the target user and their needs, along with the qualities and values a potential product should provide for these users.
